I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. My family and I had a great day. Now that the presents have been opened, and the kids are happily playing with their fun new toys, I can sit down and enjoy my most exciting Christmas present. I’m sure that most cake decorators are just like me and are most excited about the cake related gifts. I know… I’m a cake nerd! But you are too, right??
This year I got a book that I am really excited about. I got “The Fundamental Techniques of Classic Pastry Arts” from the French Culinary Institute. I know that there is a lot more in the book than just cake and it most likely doesn’t have much as far as cake decorating techniques but I am very interested in the recipes and baking techniques that (judging by the size of the book) are sure to be in large amounts. For me right now, since moving to a new climate and having to rethink some of my recipes, that is what has been on my mind. So this was the perfect gift for me. I’ll let you all know what I think of the book as soon as I get through all 512 pages of pastry goodness.
