We are gearing up for a great new year of trainings and are especially excited to be kicking off our new year with such a wonderful guest. Tracy Quisenberry is the Founder & Executive Director at Icing Smiles. Icing Smiles is a wonderful organization that allows cake decorators around the world to give back by donating cakes to terminally ill children.
With such a worthy cause and such a huge heart we are thrilled to provide Tracy the chance to speak about Icing Smiles and her experiences as the head of the organization. Please be sure to join us this coming Tuesday, the 24th. It is sure to be great!

I signed up to donate a cake for Icing Smiles… such a worthy cause, but am not allowed to donate as I don’t work from a commercial kitchen (bake in my home). I understand about health laws, and food safety (especially for these young children who often have compromised imune systems), etc… However I do wish there were a way people, like myself, could still contribute. Perhaps some bakeries who could “donate” a few hours use of their kitchen to work.. during hours they are closed. Just a thought.
I’m soooo sorry to hear that, D.J. I recently learned that CT law allows the donation of home baked goods, so long as it’s not for sale. So a friend and I are officially sponsoring Icing Smiles in CT. I’m thrilled we’re able to do this!

DJ- have you checked with Icing Smiles about that? If you are donating a cake, not selling it I believe it’s just fine. I don’t have a licensed kitchen and I’ve twice donated cakes to Icing Smiles.
